I find THE CITY to be one of my favorite Koontz books because it occupies a niche of its own in Koontz’s writing. It’s not the big, burly, Hawaiian-shirt-wearing white guy in his mid-30s and his hard-nosed female partner on the run against a big, nameless, faceless organization with limitless resources. This is a small book, lyrical, with a supernatural, almost magical realist quality. Love it.
