The Koontz Living Trust
November 12, 2019
In my defense I’m a librarian and a copyright nerd, but did anyone else notice the new copyright assignment on the Nameless books?
“Text Copyright © 2019 by The Koontz Living Trust”
Didn’t happen to notice it then however, I just noticed it on his new book “Devoted”.
I just noticed on The Other Emily. What do you think it means…. if anything?
I’m sure he’s just reorganizing his long-term legal (after)life.
I just bought The Other Emily and I noticed it right away. Google shows nothing about this. Has anyone found anything? I’m curious as well.
I’m just sure he’s reorganizing things for how he wants his work handled after he passes.
Just starting The Other Emily and noticed the copyright symbol has changed. Is this a specific symbol now being used only for Koontz books? And what’s the Living Trust? A bit confused on this one. He has no kids. So who is the trust for? Far as I’m concerned he MUST live forever!
The Copyright symbol has changed? It’s still © as far as I can see. As for the trust, I assume it’s to set up control over his works after his passing. I’d google “Living Trusts” for more details.
I can’t find out the reason for “The Koontz Living Trust”, the Why? and How? it will be used. I’m certainly familiar with living trusts, but would love for my favorite author to continue writing until a ripe old age! I’m 71 and his two latest 2023 books were extraordinary, could not put either down!!
I can’t claim to have any actual knowledge about his estate planning but my guess is the trust is what will be handling his literary estate when he’s gone.
I also noticed on ” After Death ”
Like those before me I had to look it up. Weird is 2 days ago I was trying to remember my age when I first read Dean’s books. I’m 69 now & he has to be older then me. It never occurred to me till 2 days ago that Dean is also getting old…what will we do?? HA I’ve already started rereading all his books!!!
He is a smart man and probably is being careful where proceeds from his books go when he no longer can say so most of you are probably right. I think his books get better and relevant to what’s going on in our country. I’m worried about what’s happening and what a coincidence: love nature and wolves. Just read Forest of Lost Souls, loved it. Some Very strong and likable characters in his books. I’d love to meet Mr Koontz
