It seems that there is an alternate hardcover dust jacket that uses an alternate sans-serif font. The one or two people who have noticed and have compared the two version of the book can find no other differences. However, based on an ABE Books listing, the alternat version may have been just on advance copes sent out by the publisher. The listing states:
“This was a review copy – included in the book is the newspaper cut-out of the review (from the Harrisburg independent press – which is where Koontz went to college and clearly the reviewer knew Koontz personally), the reviewer (Dick Sassaman) then gifted this review book later that same year (Christmas 1973) per the gift inscription on the front free endpaper. Flat signed (not inscribed to a person) on the pre-title page by Dean Koontz.”
