For most editions, the cover lists Dean Koontz while the copyright states Dean R. Koontz. However, the third mass-market edition states the copyright as by “Dean Ray Koontz”.
Three promotional t-shirts were released each with different phrases on the front:
“IT IS HUMAN DESTINY TO BE FREE”, “NEVER LIE TO THE DOG”, and “IT’S ONLY LIFE, WE ALL GET THROUGH IT”. On the back was printed “DARK RIVERS OF THE HEART DEAN KOONTZ”

TV mini-series According to version 2 of “Most Frequently Asked Questions”:
“Dark Rivers of the Heart has been placed with CBS for a miniseries. The screenplay is currently being written, and the hope is that filming will begin in spring of ’96.”
