“…The first book I read by Jack Vance, in November 1971, was Emphyrio, published at the budget-busting price of 75 cents. The cover illustration—perhaps by Jeff Jones—was sophisticated and mystical.”
The cover artist was, in fact, Jeff Jones who also did the cover art for Dark of the Woods/Soft Come the Dragons.
Emphyrio originally appeared in two parts in the June and August 1969 issues of Fantastic.
