Putnam Limited Editions
September 1, 2013
Back in the mid- to late-90s Putnam did a series of five limited editions of titles of Dean’s they were publishing. Four were spectacularly illustrated both on the dust jacket and slipcases. By the last one, The Bad Place, it’s like they hardly put in any effort at all.
According to my bibliography, The Bad Place was the “first” limited edition from Putnam, and was published in 1990, with 250 copies. This edition was slipcased, but had no dust jacket. From there they got better with Cold Fire in 1991 (750 copies), Hideaway in 1992 (800 copies), Dragon Tears in 1993 (700 copies), and Mr. Murder in 1993 (600 copies).
You’re absolutely right. I got it completely backwards. (I failed to double-check and made an assumption.) Sorry about that.
