Odd Thomas eBook bundle on the way

October 26, 2013

Odd Thomas Series eBookLooks like 21 October 2013 is the date for a new eBook bundle containing Odd Thomas, Forever Odd, Brother Odd, Odd Hours, Odd Interlude & Odd Apocalypse from Bantam for $45.99. No idea why they didn’t include Deeply Odd. Also, I’m so happy they didn’t call it a “boxed set”.

Wilderness

October 8, 2013

Wilderness by Dean KoontzToday Dean announced Wilderness an eBook prequel to Innocence. It’s available for $0.99 at various online booksellers including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and the iBookstore and is scheduled to be released on 29 October 2013.

About the Book
With this darkly intriguing original e-short story, #1 New York Times bestselling author Dean Koontz sets the stage for his masterly new novel of mystery, suspense, and strange wonder—Innocence.
“The world is a machine that produces endless surprises and mysteries layered on mysteries.”
Addison Goodheart is a mystery even to himself. He was born in an isolated home surrounded by a deep forest, never known to his father, kept secret from everyone but his mother, who barely accepts him. She is haunted by private demons and keeps many secrets—none of which she dreads more than the young son who adores her.
Only in the woods, among the wildlife, is Addison truly welcome. Only there can he be at peace. Until the day he first knows terror, the day when his life changes radically and forever . . .

August 31, 2013

Servants of Twilight TPBKThe trade paperback release of The Servants of Twilight comes out this Tuesday, September 3rd. As with the other trade paperback releases this one comes with “an afterword by the author.” It doesn’t say “new” so I’m assuming it’s a reprint but will wait to receive my copy before determining that.

New trilogy to start in 2014

August 12, 2013

Your heard it here first folks! Here’s what’s coming after Innocence in 2014!

EXCITING NEW TRILOGY ON THE HORIZON: Innocence will publish a short six months before the start of a brand new trilogy from Dean Koontz, kicking off with Secret Forest in July. The series stars Ivy Elgin, who played a secondary role in Koontz’s New York Times bestselling novel Velocity, and she’s risen to become one of Koontz’s most popular, sought-after characters in spite of the limited time she spent on the page. There’s something magical about her that fans simply cannot forget and have asked for more of since first meeting her! These back-to-back, high-power publications will help fuel and promote one another, and bring Koontz to even greater heights.

This comes from a promotional site that Random House (and many other publishers) use to promote titles to booksellers and librarians which I’m going to keep to myself. Granted, previous books by Dean have been announced and later cancelled (Storm Front anyone?) so if this doesn’t come to be, don’t blame me.

37 new Dean Koontz introductions just published

June 15, 2013

April Evil kindleA while back I mentioned that there are three new editions of John D. MacDonald novels coming out with new introductions by Dean. Well, it turns out that they didn’t stop at just three. This past Tuesday 37 classic MacDonald titles were released each featuring “a new Introduction by Dean Koontz”. The catch, it looks like they only came out as eBooks. Head on over to Amazon.com and take a look. (The first three listed here are the aforementioned trade paperbacks coming out later this year, while the last three are false positives based on my search terms.) And at $11.99 each, a full set is going to run you a whopping $443.63!

No, Dean has not written a graphic novel adaptation of The Warriors

June 15, 2013

The Warriors: JailbreakSometimes an author’s name gets attached to something accidentally and that information propagates across the Net like a weed. As far as I can tell this is the situation with the graphic novel The Warriors: Jailbreak. According to listings on ABEbooks, Bookishtextbooksrus, and other sites, this book has Dean listed as an author. I wrote to two sellers who were offering copies on Amazon (which does not attach Dean’s name to this title) to see if there was anything that connected Dean to this title. In both cases the sellers responded that they could not find anything in the book itself mentioning Dean. So, unless someone knows something I don’t (which is possible,) this is going in the Collecting Errors appendix.

Check out this review of "The Hitchkiker" by Dean Koontz

June 15, 2013

koontz-motelkoontz-lifterTurns out that the Odd Thomas books published in The Netherlands have significantly different titles. In fact according to this review of The Hitchhiker the three latest books are titled The Hitchhiker (Deeply Odd), The Hotel (Odd Interlude), and The Billionaire (Odd Apocalypse.) Here’s to wondering what Dean thinks of this.

Two more introductions to John D. MacDonald books on the way

May 31, 2013

I’ve previously mentioned that a new edition of Cape Fear by John D. MacDonald will be coming out on 14 January 2014 with a new introduction by Dean.
Well, it turns out that that’s not the only MacDonald title getting the Koontz treatment. Amazon.com is currently listing new editions of A Key to the Suite and Slam the Big Door, both due out on 11 February 2014, and both with new introductions by Dean.
So, at this point, that’s a minimum of three MacDonald titles coming out with Koontz intros. Considering the man published dozens of novels, and Dean’s a big fan, this could get interesting.
