US vs UK: Which is first
July 4, 2012
I’m working my way through Dean’s latest batch of notes and there are some things I just can’t share prior to publication but here’s a bit I think would be ok.
Did you know that the only title to intentionally come out in the UK prior to the US is the forthcoming Odd Apocalypse? The UK edition has a release date of 19 July 2012 while the US edition is scheduled for 31 July 2012.
Why? Well, turns out that releasing it in the UK at the end of the month would have pretty much had the book compete with the Olympics. Marketing 101: known when not to compete with a bigger news story.

UK covers for Odd Interlude & Odd Apocalpypse
June 19, 2012
As Dean has been quoted in the past, he’s never had a clear picture of Odd Thomas in his head. I think because of this I much prefer the UK covers for Odd Interlude and Odd Apocalypse than the US covers.

Whispers on DVD
June 8, 2012

Love it or hate it, I think this is the first time Whispers has been released on DVD but I’ve not checked my record on that. (Please correct me in the comments if I’m wrong.) The interesting bit is that you can watch it in “Katrina’s Nightmare Theater” format, whatever that is exactly.
For the record it was released back on 21 February 2012 but I’d somehow missed it until now.

Two online articles of note from io9:
An Exclusive First Look at Dean Koontz’s New Odd Thomas Novella
If you’ve been craving more of Dean Koontz’s spirit-talking, supernatural trouble-finder Odd Thomas, then you’re in for a treat. First, Koontz a three-part novella coming out in e-book form starting next week, Odd Interlude. And then a whole new novel, Odd Apocalypse, comes out in July. But why wait to start the fun? We’ve got an exclusive excerpt from the opening of Odd Interlude, right here.
Dean Koontz tells io9 about the Odd Thomas movie… and a possible Frankenstein TV show
The movie version of Dean Koontz’s Odd Thomas is done, Koontz tells io9. He’s actually seen the finished film, and he told us what he thinks of it. Koontz also talked to us about the prospects for a TV show based on his Frankenstein series, and what’s next for Odd Thomas. Plus Koontz has a new novel in the works based on an idea told to him by a long-dead author. Really.

New Trixie & Jinx iPad app — proceeds to charity
May 25, 2012
From Look To The Stars:
Auryn, Inc., the most award-winning digital publisher of interactive children’s stories for the iPad and other tablet devices, has announced the availability of Trixie and Jinx, the second ebook app by blockbuster author Dean Koontz.
With the release of the award-winning I, Trixie Who Is Dog app late last year, Auryn and Koontz brought the author’s beloved golden retriever Trixie to life on the iPad. Together, they have now released the second Trixie ebook adventure, just in time for children and families to enjoy it on summer vacations. Again, Koontz will be donating his proceeds from the app to Canine Companions, a charity he has long supported that trains service assistance dogs for adults, children and veterans with disabilities.

Dean's personal library
March 28, 2012
The Laguna Beach Independent has a short article about Dean’s upcoming appearance at the Laguna Playhouse which I’ve previously posted about. However, the point of this post is actually to highlight the photo attached to the article of Dean in, what I assume to be, just part of his vast personal library of which I am very jealous.
Head on over to the full article by clicking on the small version of the photo in this post. There you can get a full-size version by clicking on that photo.

Bloody Disgusting doesn’t like 77 Shadow Street
March 7, 2012
Well, here’s their punch line:
Along with his weird, over-explanatory gun fetishism (“The Baretta 9mm featured a twenty-round magazine, a six-inch Mag-na-ported Jarvis barrel, and Trijicon night sights“), Koontz rolls out all of his traditional tropes for his drooling fan-base, but the resulting novel is a boring, under-plotted mess for anyone but Koontz loyalists.
