The Face of Fear premium paperback

October 16, 2012

It looks like The Face of Fear will be getting the $9.99 premium paperback treatment but not until 16 August 2013. Of course, Amazon doesn’t have artwork for it yet. However, if you’re into pre-ordering “this item is eligible for our 4-for-3 promotion. Eligible products include select Books. Buy any 4 eligible items and get the lowest-priced item free. Here’s how (restrictions apply) “

Animated Nevermore?

October 12, 2012

I just stumbled over an article titled “BBC Worldwide Flies into Historical Fantasy with ‘Peter Panzerfaust’ Multi-Platform Series” which doesn’t seem to have all that much to do with Dean. However, the last paragraph, describing the company Quality Transmedia had a little snippet of something very interesting:

Quality Transmedia is multiplatform entertainment venture with projects in the film, television, and digital spaces. Founded in 2012 by Double Barrel Motion Labs CEO, Jeff Krelitz, QT focuses on branded entertainment it can incubate in the digital space and shift to broadcast and film. Since its founding earlier this year, QT has set up a distribution output deal with Starz Digital Media and is creating online series for networks like Fox’s IGN with their video game stunt show, “Game Over.” QT is currently developing animated adaptations of Fall Out Boy’s rock opera, “Fall Out Toyworks” and Dean Koontz’s “Nevermore.” Previous productions include work on other prominent properties including “Spartacus” with Starz, “Tron: Legacy” with Disney, and a “Dr. Who” motion comic for BBC America.

Odd Interlude paperback cover art released

September 25, 2012

Amazon is now showing the cover art for the premium paperback release of Odd Interlude. It’s also listing a non-discounted price of just $7.90. I didn’t think the publisher could justify a $9.99 cover price for a book of this length, but that price is not what I expected.

Get "The Black Pumpkin" for just $12.98

September 22, 2012

I’m pretty sure I blogged about this last year but I just saw it again so I figured it was worth the mention for newer readers.
Originally published as October Dreams in various editions by Cemetery Dance, the Barnes & Noble store imprint has republished the Halloween anthology as Halloween Horrors at the bargain price of $12.98. Why I mention it here is that it does contain Dean’s story “The Black Pumpkin”.
Look for it in the bargain books section of your local Barnes & Noble. (In mine it was displayed on a Halloween-theme end-cap.) However, the copies I saw last night were all second printings so if you’re someone who needs a first printing, good luck.

Frankenstein

September 15, 2012

Being the completeist that I am, I actually own all four editions of King’s Wayy Press’ Frankenstein for which Dean wrote the Introduction. Cemetery Dance currently has copies of the Regal edition for just $175. I’ve got to say, that these are gorgeous books!

  • The UK paperback edition from Harper does not contain The Moonlit Mind.
  • Brilliance Audio will be releasing an unabridged audio version in both Audio CD and MP3-CD formats on 27 November 2012.
  • Charnel House will be issuing The Moonlit Mind in both a 1000-copy numbered, and a 26-copy lettered hardcover editions in November. (If you have to ask the price you can’t afford it 😉 However, they are offering discounts if you order and pay before October 1st.)

Oddkins eBook

August 16, 2012

Looks like Oddkins is coming out at an eBook on September 4th. (So far I can only find a listing for the Kindle version.)
This might also be a good place to mention that the Collector’s Guide will not be including eBook editions unless they’re somehow unique. For example the recent “eBook only” originals such as Odd Interlude.

What the Night Knows on the bargain shelf

August 2, 2012

Just got back from my local Barnes & Noble and it looks like the trade hardcover edition of What the Night Knows has hit the remainder pile for just $6.98.  A good price if you’re looking for this edition.

Needed: Barnes & Noble Reading Group

July 10, 2012

The Holidays 2006 issue of Useless News states the following:

“Dean participated in a Barnes & Noble reading group for THE HUSBAND. These were a few of the more interesting exchanges, which have been adapted for an installment of “TEN QUESTIONS” on out site.

Does anyone have any information about this online event? Date, original URL, text archive, etc.

Happy birthday Dean!

July 9, 2012

Dean turns 67 today. Here’s wishing him a happy birthday!

How long is the film version of Whispers?

July 7, 2012

Here’s a fun fact I just noticed: The VHS edition of Whispers lists a run time of 96 minutes. However, the laser disc lists a run time of 94 minutes and the DVD lists a run time of 90 minutes. Then again IMDB lists a run time of 100 minutes.

US vs UK: Which is first

July 4, 2012

I’m working my way through Dean’s latest batch of notes and there are some things I just can’t share prior to publication but here’s a bit I think would be ok.
Did you know that the only title to intentionally come out in the UK prior to the US is the forthcoming Odd Apocalypse? The UK edition has a release date of 19 July 2012 while the US edition is scheduled for 31 July 2012.
Why? Well, turns out that releasing it in the UK at the end of the month would have pretty much had the book compete with the Olympics. Marketing 101: known when not to compete with a bigger news story.

Deeply Odd

June 29, 2012

It looks like we won’t have to wait as long as most of us thought for the sixth Odd Thomas novel. According to Amazon.com Deeply Odd is scheduled to be released on 12 March 2013. Of course, no cover art to be found just yet.
